In a behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday, Chelsea defeated Weymouth 13-0.
On Sunday, Chelsea defeated semi-professional side Weymouth 13-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly match at Cobham Training Centre.
On Saturday, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the friendly was organized to help players who had not been involved in many pre-season games regain match fitness. “This [the friendly match] is not like training,” the German told Chelsea TV. “It will be a normal week for some, like Marcos Alonso, to prepare for the match on Sunday, while it will be very intense for others.”
Chelsea did not make any team announcements ahead of the game because it is not officially part of the pre-season. Fortunately, Weymouth's social media team kept us updated on the game.
It's 1-0 after 4 minutes. Chelsea's Rose loses the ball in the middle of the pitch, and Chelsea slots home from 12 yards out past Fitzsimons.
