ABRAHAM MOVE TO ROMA FROM CHELSEA
Tammy Abraham has left Chelsea Football Club on a permanent basis to join AS Roma, ending his long association with the Blues after rising through the ranks of our Academy to represent our men's first team.
In total, Abraham scored 30 goals in 82 senior appearances for the club, primarily over the last two seasons, and was a member of the squad that won the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup this year.
Tammy will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge as one of our own,' said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. We've all enjoyed watching him progress through our Academy and into the first-team squad, and we're grateful for his contribution to our senior and youth successes.
‘His many goals in a Chelsea shirt, as well as his contribution to our Champions League triumph last season, will be remembered forever. I'm sure all Chelsea fans will join me in wishing Tammy a long and prosperous career.'
Abraham demonstrated his potential after joining Cobham at the age of seven, scoring numerous goals for Chelsea at the youth level and assisting us in winning back-to-back FA Youth Cups and UEFA Youth Leagues.
Guus Hiddink gave him his senior debut away at Liverpool when he was 18 years old, and after three successful loan spells, he returned to Stamford Bridge to become a permanent member of our first-team squad for 2019/20 season.
He kicked off the season with seven goals in three games, becoming the Blues' youngest player to score a Premier League hat-trick thanks to his treble at Wolves, and he finished the year with a memorable winner away at Arsenal. He finished the season with 18 goals, making him our all-time leading scorer.
The majority of Abraham's Premier League goals in the 2020/21 season came in the first half of the season, due to injury and increased competition. He did, however, play a role, scoring four goals as we advanced to the FA Cup final and appearing in five of our six Champions League group games on our way to being crowned European champions.
Tammy is thanked by everyone at Chelsea Football Club for his contributions at Stamford Bridge and wishes him the best of luck in the future.
